A different résumé-building experience

Until now, designer résumé templates have been a premium product-- reserved for people willing to pay for the templates themselves as well as the high-end software required to edit them. Chardoc aims to shatter this business model with its 100% free, highly-customizable and ultra-secure templates.

Back when 'free' meant 'free', you didn't have to worry about websites storing your personal information and selling it to third parties. Chardoc's résumé building platform is completely client-side, meaning your personal information never leaves your machine. We do not require the creation of an account, yet we conveniently save your progress every step of the way using "local storage" which is information stored in your browser, on your device-- never on our servers.

Our advertisers and things like the analytics we use have been carefully chosen and configured to align with our strict moral code regarding the privacy of our users. Chardoc is, and always will be, a place where the end-user is treated with the highest level of care and respect. We have no interest in selling your data, only providing you with the best product and experience.

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Note: Chardoc was just recently launched and so the questions in this section are actually just questions that we think people will ask. As time goes on and we recieve more feedback from users, we will ammend or update this section accordingly. Furthermore, these questions are in regards to non-writing topics. For tips on content for your résumé, head over to our Resource Center

How do you handle my data?
•The short answer is, "we don't". As mentioned above, Chardoc's résumé-building service is completely client-side. When you open a template, your device loads the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files and runs everything locally in your browser. At no point does your device send personal information to our servers. Eventually, we plan to offer optional accounts for permanent storage of created résumés and additional features, but we are committed to maintaining an account-less option for our users.

OK, how do you save my progress then?
• We use a browser feature called "local storage" to let you save your data on your machine. When you load a new template, the locally run JavaScript (see previous question) looks locally on your machine for any saved information and automatically populates any of the fields that have been saved. You can easily wipe this information with our "reset data" button or by clearing your browser's cache.

How does Chardoc make money?
• As of our launch date and at least the few weeks or months following, Chardoc does not generate any income. Eventually we plan to run a tasteful amount of advertisements on some pages (templates, browse, etc.) to allow us to operate profitably. Our business development team has other theories and plans for generating additional income (maybe a shameless merch page), but our services will always be 100% free for the job-seekers on our platform. What people enjoy now will only increase in magnitude, not including other potential free features and services down the road.
